Founder of eight companies across Vietnam and Australia · Two exits to global acquirers
What does it take to bring diagnostic technology into markets that did not yet have it — and make it routine clinical practice?
Twenty-six years, one recurring problem
Holding the science and the commercial case at the same time.
A biotechnology chief executive with twenty-six years of experience bringing diagnostic technology into markets that did not yet have it, I have founded eight companies and led two of them to acquisition by global groups — Gentis to Eurofins Scientific, and Biomedic to the DKSH Group. I have recently established Inogen Pty Ltd in Australia to carry the same work into a larger and more mature market.
My strength as a leader is that I hold the science and the commercial case at the same time. I am a molecular biologist by training and I still direct platform and product decisions personally. I have also carried full profit and loss responsibility at scale, and I negotiated both of my exits face to face with the acquirer. Few people in this industry are able to do all three, and it is the reason my businesses have been bought rather than merely built.
“I create categories rather than product lines.”
Prenatal screening, embryo testing before IVF transfer, screening for inherited cancer risk, gene sequencing for cancer screening and testing, and forensic DNA identification are now routine tests in Vietnam’s leading hospitals.
Each entered clinical practice through a company I founded or led, and each required me to select the technology platform, set the testing process and standards, satisfy the regulator, build the laboratory and earn the confidence of clinicians.

A record built across category creation, scale and exit.
Category creation, operational scale and international exits form the evidence trail.
- 01
Built and sold Vietnam’s leading genetic testing business, co-founding Gentis in 2010, growing it into an eleven-branch national network and lifting enterprise value from VND 500 billion in 2022 to VND 750 billion in 2024, before completing its sale to Eurofins Scientific in 2025;
- 02
Raised the Gentis transaction value by 50 per cent, from AU$28M to AU$42M, through two years of restructuring, accelerated growth and negotiation, with no new capital raised and no dilution to the founding shareholders;
- 03
Delivered a second international exit, preparing Biomedic for sale as Chief Executive and securing its acquisition by DKSH Group (SIX Swiss Exchange: DKSH), announced publicly through DKSH’s own investor channel;
- 04
Introduced five diagnostic categories into Vietnamese clinical practice — non-invasive prenatal screening, preimplantation genetic testing, hereditary cancer risk assessment such as BRCA, gene sequencing to identify targeted cancer treatment, and forensic human identification — now standard at Vietnam’s leading obstetric and oncology hospitals;
- 05
Hold direct commercial relationships with the industry’s principal platform owners, including Thermo Fisher Scientific, Illumina, Vitrolife, Mindray, Genproof, Panagene, Paxgenbio and Techstar Technology;
- 06
Directed the discovery of two novel probiotic strains, Bacillus subtilis Eramic 25 and Eramic 26, isolated from healthy human samples in Vietnam, with the genome report published in the peer-reviewed literature;
- 07
Established Inogen Pty Ltd in Australia, trading profitably in its first full financial year to 30 June 2026 on revenue of AU$573,689.
2008 — Present · Chief Executive Officer since 2022
From equipment distributor to diagnostic category partner.
Co-founded Biomedic in 2008 and built it into a national supplier of in vitro diagnostic and research-use products, reaching approximately USD 17 million in annual revenue with a team of around one hundred, serving some one hundred hospitals and more than two hundred corporate accounts.
Appointed Chief Executive in 2022 with a mandate to change what the company sold. Repositioned Biomedic from equipment distributor to diagnostic category partner — the business hospitals approach when they want a new testing capability established and validated, not simply an instrument delivered. Retain personal control of platform selection and supplier negotiation.
Prepared the company for international sale: restructured operations, rebuilt reporting to withstand acquirer diligence, and presented the business directly to prospective buyers.
“Mr Ngo was central to this process. He helped position the company for strategic interest, supported valuation and negotiation work, and ensured that Biomedic’s commercial strengths and future potential were properly understood by international parties. He is able to work comfortably across science based industries, commercial growth strategy, and investor level decision making. That combination is uncommon.”
2010 — 2025
Building a founder-led company to operate inside a multinational group.
Co-founded Gentis in 2010 and built it into the largest DNA and genetic testing business in Vietnam, operating an eleven-branch national network. Directed the tightening of operational discipline, the expansion of service capacity and the rebuild of the commercial model that took enterprise value from VND 500 billion in 2022 to VND 750 billion in 2024.
Led the company through acquisition by Eurofins Scientific, a bioanalytical testing group operating in more than sixty countries. Set and executed the two-year strategy that lifted the transfer valuation from AU$28 million to AU$42 million on completion, and led the transition from a founder-run business to one able to operate inside a multinational group.
“His guidance supported the transition from a founder-led enterprise to a structure capable of operating within a multinational corporate environment. He is comfortable in complex corporate situations, including cross-border transactions and post-acquisition integration. His involvement enhanced Gentis’s credibility within the international biotechnology market.”
Where the technology landed
From platform choice to routine use.
The achievements below are grouped by clinical application so the reader can follow the path from technology platform to hospital deployment.
01Infectious disease pathogens
Built routine testing solutions for infectious disease pathogens — sexually transmitted infections, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HPV among them — on Thermo Fisher and Bio-Rad platforms, deployed at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, the National Children’s Hospital, the National Hospital of Dermatology and Venereology, the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Dermato-Venereology and the Pasteur Institute network;
02Non-invasive prenatal screening
Established non-invasive prenatal screening on the Illumina platform, the only FDA-approved NIPT solution available in the market, as a routine service at Hung Vuong Hospital and subsequently at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Tam Anh network;
03Preimplantation genetic testing
Rebuilt preimplantation genetic testing on the MiSeq i100, cutting turnaround time and unit cost below the overseas laboratories Vietnamese fertility clinics had been using, and taking the service into fertility centres nationally;
04Targeted cancer sequencing
Took targeted cancer sequencing into routine clinical use on Thermo Fisher Genexus, a fully automated platform, and on Illumina with NgeneBio assays, at K Hospital, Bach Mai, Cho Ray and Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital;
05Inherited cancer risk & forensic identification
Created the testing pathway for inherited cancer risk, building a germline and BRCA portfolio in a market with no structured route for advising a family that it carries a cancer gene, and set the technology direction for forensic human identification on the Thermo Fisher HID portfolio, arranging advanced DNA identification training for Vietnam’s lead forensic science units.

Australia performs more than 160 million pathology tests each year, growing at four to five per cent annually — a larger, better regulated and better funded version of the market I already know. Inogen is the vehicle through which I intend to work in it.
Inogen is trading, banked, GST-registered and employing staff, and recorded revenue of AU$573,689 and a net profit in its first full financial year to 30 June 2026. Its activities are research and development in molecular diagnostics, including assay development, validation and collaborative studies with Australian universities, pathology networks and NATA-accredited laboratories; laboratory operations built to ISO 15189 standards; importation and supply of diagnostic instruments, reagents and test kits to pathology laboratories, hospital networks and fertility clinics; acting as Australian sponsor for IVD products, with responsibility for TGA conformity assessment, ARTG inclusion and post-market surveillance; and the transfer of proven diagnostic technology and laboratory operating models into Australia.
Initial focus is on high-volume, clinically essential and recurring segments: molecular STI testing, around 1.2 million tests a year; Group B Streptococcus screening in pregnancy, where roughly 112,000 molecular tests are addressable against some 300,000 births a year; and sperm DNA fragmentation testing, around 27,500 tests a year and growing at eight per cent.
